Timmy's Place

When we set out to start Timmy’s Fund… “Timmy’s Place” was our ultimate ‘Vision’. This is going to be a place, set near W.V.U. Children’s hospital, where families of Pediatric Oncology Patients can stay free of charge. Timmy’s Place will ALWAYS be opened to them, not only on nights that their children are in the hospital. It will be a place that they can come any time of the day. Whether it’s to stop by for a meal with their family, allow their kids to play, check or send emails, or just grab a gas card or meal card to a local restaurant, we want each of these families to know that this is a place that will "Always Be Open." Timmy’s Place will be their sort of ‘home away from home’ while they are in Morgantown.

Timmy’s Place will be full of resources for our families. Resources such as: Meal Cards, Gas Cards, Restaurants who will deliver to the house, private kitchens with convenience foods on hand. Timmy’s Place will also be equipped with multiple computers for research and email services for families to use to keep family updated of their situation. We will have telephones available in each room. We will have research material, and local area information available, including church information with phone numbers to call for any of their spiritual needs.

We will offer a ‘common area’ of the house with a children’s play area, a comfortable lounge area for relaxing during the day, and a meeting area with plenty of room for any ‘group activity’ that would arise. These families, who see each other on a daily basis at the hospital, end up developing bonds with one another. It will be a great benefit for them to have an area where they can meet, and have an opportunity to just unwind, relax and enjoy each other’s company outside of the hospital setting.

They will also have their own ‘private’ space for time alone with their family. This will be a space that NOTHING in this area can provide for them. They will have their own private kitchens, private bathrooms, and their own place to hang out and have ‘family time’ with every comfort of home imaginable. We will constantly strive to make these spaces more comfortable and equipped for our families.

Overall, our goal is to provide these families MORE than just a place to stay… We are a family who has ‘been there’, and knows how hard it is to be away from home for so long. We are a family who understands the importance of some privacy, and a place where we could ‘unwind’ and call our own. Timmy’s Place will go a step further, and with the countless resources available to our families, will offer them “Hope…and all the comforts of home.”
