Meet Grace...

 

 

To fully tell Grace's Story, we have to go back to February, 2002... Long before she was born... When her parents, Randy and Shelly heard the words for the first time... "Your daughter has cancer".  At the time, the doctors were talking about SAMANTHA, Grace's older sister... who was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a very aggressive childhood brain tumor.  With Samantha, being just 6 months old, Randy and Shelly were told there was very little chance that their baby girl would survive.  But Randy and Shelly knew that they served a God that had other plans for Samantha...

 

This is Samantha, on the left...

9 years later... she is a cancer survivor... and a true WARRIOR in every sense of the word.  She is sitting next to her little sister Grace Lynn... who is about to go through the FIGHT of her life at just two and a half years old. 

 

 In September, 2011 Grace was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, the same cancer that her sister battled and WON against back in 2002!  This is not a cancer that is hereditary... for two siblings to be diagnosed with this same cancer is soo rare that there are only 10 known cases of this... EVER...

There is something about this picture that offers a sense of 'HOPE'... Samantha sitting next to her little sister as a symbol of HOPE... that as aggressive as this cancer is... and as tough of a FIGHT that she has ahead of her... Grace can have HOPE... and draw strength from her sister, who beat the odds and proved that God's plan will always win out over doctor's statistics...

 Grace has a LONG fight ahead of her... Additional Surgeries... at least 6 months of high dose chemotherapy... this means low blood counts, with multiple trips back and forth more than 30 miles to Phoenix Children's Hospital...

At times like this, as parents, and as 'human beings'... we see a family struggling through such a difficult time... want to help and yet we feel soo 'helpless'...

 

WE can JOIN together... and do something AMAZING...

WE cannot offer any sort of answers... as to HOW this could happen to the same family TWICE??... or offer words of encouragement enough to make this make sense or take away the pain that they must be feeling at a time like this...

 

But what we can offer them is HOPE... and for GRACE... we can give her the most precious gift that she could receive this year as she fights this cancer...

and that is her FAMILY!!
