Each time a child visits the Infusion Clinic where they receive chemotherapy, have their blood counts done, or just need to see the doctor, they leave with a 'gift packet' from Timmy's Fund. This Gift includes a Gas/Food card, a local area restaurant gift card or coupon for their lunch, and some cash to help supplement their trip that day. The goal of our gift packet is is that it will pay for their trip to the hospital that day! The day to day 'non-medical' expeses during cancer treatment can be overwhelming... This is without a doubt the hardest, most desperate time a family will ever go thru in their lives... It is our prayer that this GIFT from Timmy's Fund will ease their stress and help them make it thru another day!

When a family has to stay at the hospital with their child, we provide them with cafeteria coupons. When a child is admitted into the hospital for treatment, it is difficult to find time to leave their room, let alone being able to leave the hospital to do basic things like eat, shop, and do laundry. We provide families with cafeteria coupons so they can run quickly down to the cafeteria and grab something to eat without leaving the hospital. We work very closely with the Oncology staff to find better ways to help families in need. It is our goal to continue to find ways to make their days a little easier and to help them focus on their children and eachother.
We are in constant contact with the Oncology staff. Doctors, the infusion clinic nurses, and specifically the Pediatric Oncology Social Worker (who works with families on a daily basis). With her help, we identify specific family needs. In the past we have done things like help pay for transportation when families are traveling out of the area for treatment or help families with hotel costs (in Morgantown or when traveling for treatment). We have also gone above and beyond in certain instances where real financial needs were identified.
We also have a new page on our website: Families in Need. Through our website, we help others 'tell their own story' and provide a way for their family and friends to make a tax deductible donations specifically to them.

Timmy's Fund was established to help families that are struggling with the emotional and financial stresses of childhood cancer. We have established ourselves as a real source of support to the families that are being treated at WVU Children's Hospital here in Morgantown. As we begin to raise money in Pittsburgh, it is our goal to establish similar programs there as well. We have had many calls, letters and emails from families out of state and all over the United States. Although we do not provide these programs everywhere, we attempt to help these families as well. Please take some time to visit our Families in Need page. This is a way that we can help a family from any state. We provide them space on our website so that their local community, family and friends have a way to make an easy online tax deductible donation. With board approval, we are able to make small donations to families outside of the area as well. Timmy's Fund has helped so many families and touched so many lives. We couldn't have done all this without the generous donations and monthly support from the hundreds of people who send us money, attend our events, and support our cause.
